There are over 2,220 tree species native to the Philippines, 45% of which are endemic and found nowhere else in the world. Thirty-one species are assessed as Critically Endangered and are likely to go extinct unless urgent action is taken to save them. The country only has 7% forest cover but with your support, we can work with local communities to protect and reintroduce threatened tree species.
Botanic Gardens Conservation International’s work aims to promote and develop a more efficient, cost effective and rational approach to plant conservation in botanic gardens. We will do this by leading and advocating, leading innovative and strategic projects, building plant conservation capacity, and providing funding.
