We have been working with the national network of botanic gardens in Ethiopia to build capacity for plant conservation and botanic garden management. There are multiple botanic gardens distributed across the country, and there has been a recent push from the government to establish more botanic gardens to protect and conserve Ethiopia’s unique flora. In recent years, we have worked to ensure that all endemic Ethiopian tree species have a conservation assessment in place, as well as to secure ex situ living collections of some of the most threatened tree species.
More than 38 tree species are threatened with extinction in Ethiopia. Help us save them.
