With over 30,000 higher plant species – 10% of the world’s total plant diversity, China is a key region for plant conservation. From our China office based at South China Botanic Garden (Chinese Academy of Sciences) we work with China’s large network of botanic gardens, environmental agencies from local to national level, academics and communities on projects delivering species conservation, habitat restoration and environmental education activities.
Our aim is to advance approaches that simultaneously integrate conservation and the enhancement of local peoples’ livelihoods. The key to success is the progression of knowledge and practical skills of our project partners through specialised training, as are public outreach campaigns to boost a much need awareness of environmental issues.
At least 312 tree species are threatened with extinction in China. Help us save them.
